Sacred Christian Cross Burning Ceremony

 A paster's conference in Winfield, Alabama is causing quite a stir among the local community. A flier advertising the event states;

"Annual Pastors Conference All White Christians Invited."

The flier appeared in the dead of night when everyone was asleep before business owners could object. When you are doing God's work, getting permission before-hand is just not necessary. After all Jesus himself didn't need permit, or permission to share his views.

What could be racist about this?

According to the flier, the three-day conference ends with a "Sacred Christian Cross Lighting Ceremony."  (no, it's not a joke)

Winfield Mayor Wayne Silas says he and other folks in town are not pleased since this event is not representative of their community in any way.

"Business people are upset. The city is upset. The city of Winfield does not condone this," Silas said.

The events organizer, Rev. William C.Collier says that his Church of God's Chosen, is not a hate group, but believes "the white race is God's chosen people."

Organizers said although there is a strong KKK presence, the Klan did not sponsor the event.

Collier defends why only white Christians are invited.

"We don't have the facilities to accommodate other people. We haven't got any invitations to black, Muslim events. Of course we are not invited to Jewish events and stuff," Collier said.

Collier insisted that the "Sacred Christian Cross Lighting Ceremony" to be held on final day of the event symbolized an "opposition to tyranny."

"We are not burning a cross, look at the wording, it says light a cross, Christian Identity Ministries Reverend Mel Lewis asked. "If you light a light in your house do you burn down your house?" We often use fire. Our ancient fathers said fire was a cleansing element. Even the Bible says the earth will be purified with fire what purer element can we use as a symbol of our worship?"

The conference has met for three years in Lamar County and there has been no trouble in the past and supporters say they don't expect any over the next three days.

The shed er..church
New plumbing for those "black only" water fountains could get expensive, maybe that's what he means when he says he doesn't have any facilities to accommodate those "other people."

Could be too, that the shed..er..church is just too small to hold lawnmowers and people at the same time, and just think of all those out-houses you'd need to segregate those "others" as well.

Maybe while you are visiting the new holy-land you can get your lawnmower fixed for the cost of a case of beer. I hear they use Doritos instead of  wafers to represent the body of Christ.

And bring your own plastic jug, just in case there is a long line at the out-house.

Surprised that the Jesus love fest doesn't end with a good old fashioned Sunday afternoon hanging. Just like the old days.
We are really falling down on the job here in the US, what happened to our 'educayshun' system dammit? And it used to be 'Freedom of Religion' but now we need 'Freedom From Religion'. Urgent!
